One of the important elements of outdoor design is the finishing products that you use, like tumbled marble or a beautiful glass. The other thing is scale. What we’ve done over here with our outdoor living area is we’ve built an area that’s roughly 20′ x 20′ that you can entertain and cook and has a wonderful view, yet it doesn’t take up a lot of space. It still leaves plenty of space for seating, for kids to run, etc. The other thing is that the kinds of materials that we used, and the color, has to match the current home so it looks like it’s always been part of your house. This is the existing home.
