Outdoor columns can really make a difference and dress up and area. Here’s an example of what used to be just a traditional 6″ x 6″ column that we’re boxing out, stuccoing and adding cap work. Compared to the old wooden column, we’re really cleaning these up. One thing you want to do if possible and it’s cost effective enough for you is to always add some kind of lighting, such as sconce lighting, or what ever you think will be the right thing to get the right mood. Remember, you can still do columns even if you’re including a screen enclosure or you’re adding an area where your patio just simple ends by cutting the cap off and making it look like it’s always been there.
